Auckland, New Zealand

Day 1- Half Day Auckland City Tour

On our first day in Auckland we took a half day guided tour of the city that began by driving around the bay. This bridge looks very much like the one in Sydney.
The only difference being New Zealand flags instead of Australian ones!
Downtown Auckland from across the bay.
And of course they also have a needle tower.
Very imaginative and unique architecture here too.
A couple of Scuba divers, I wonder what there is to see in the bay?
This is Mount Eden, also known as Maungawhau. It is what remains of a volcano, like most of the mountains in the area.
No, we did not eat there!
A beautiful bay with one vessel listing a bit too much to port!
A closer look at that bridge reveals that the locals here do NOT think it’s a good idea to have the tourists risk their lives walking over the top of the bridge!
This is the Auckland War Memorial Museum, also known as the Auckland Museum.
You can definitely see the British influence here.
Another view of Mount Eden.
Our transportation for the day, Auckland City Tours.

Day 2- Ferry to Waiheke Island

Auckland Ferry Terminal building
Once on the island we took a small tour bus to see it.
Very picturesque countryside!
Still picruresque, just ignore the traffic cones!
Some cute little cottages.
There were some pretty interesting sculptures around the island.
One of the murals around town.
Penguin family taking a selfie, why not?!
I have no explanation for this one!
Jan’s purple flowers.
Even the New Zealand Red Cross building was artsy!
Wine time at the Mudbrick Winery!
Want a Magnum anyone?
Looking for any leftovers I’m sure!
My Nikon has this artistic setting to make photos look like paintings, interesting I thought!
Beautiful gardens at this winery too.
This is a view of the area where we had wine and Joni and I also had Gelato! This was taken from the parking lot.
The working part of the harbor taken from our ferry on the way back in.
An exciting new architectural wonder of a building in progress!
Mussel pods for the restaurant. You can’t get much fresher than that!

Day 3- We woke up to a rainy day so decided to go to a unique underground aquarium……stay tuned!

We've been full time RVers since 2015 and have been fortunate enough to have seen all 50 states (we flew to Hawaii and alaska) and stayed in each at least one week! It's been an awesome adventure but we've decided to park our fifth wheel in Yuma Arizona, mostly because its warm year round! By staying put in one place we can now do other travel both in the USA and abroad.
